Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey tell the story of the ten-year war between the Greeks and the people of Troy, and in 1993 Caro embarked on a series of sculptures reflecting the theme, the people, gods and incidents within
this epic poem. King Priam of Troy was the father of Hector, Paris and forty-eight other sons as well as several daughters.

In the sculptures he combined ceramic forms, made with Hans Spinner at his workshop near Grasse in the south of France, with wood and steel. This piece is made in a very direct way, with free handling of the clay contrasting with the more formal construction of the timbers.
