Education is a central theme running through this exhibition. Anthony Caro is known as an inspirational teacher and an artist who has always been courageous enough to experiment with new materials and ideas, and to work alongside practitioners in other disciplines.

In preparation for the Lewes exhibition, two groups of schoolchildren from East Sussex visited the artist in his London studio. They experimented with a range of materials guided by Caro and his team of assistants and had the opportunity to question him about his work.

We are supporting schools and colleges in a number of ways

1. Presentations to teachers
2. Information and worksheets available through this website
3. Sculpture workshops in Lewes Town Hall during the exhibition led by experienced sculptors
4. The opportunity to develop ideas in metal with a sculptor in his studio
5. Experienced guides available for school parties. These must be booked in advance and there is a small fee.
6. Demonstrations of welding and metalwork in the Town Hall
7. Updates on projects taking place in schools and colleges
