Sculptor’s work on show next month

An exhibition of work by internationally acclaimed sculptor Sir Anthony Caro is opening at Lewes Town Hall on June 30. Sir Anthony has been a major contributor to changes and growth in British sculpture for the past 50 years and the exhibition, running until August 19,will show the key stages in his development. Central to the event will be education.
School visits will be welcomed and can be booked on the exhibition website. Previews for primary teachers will be held on Monday, July 2, and for their secondary and tertiary colleagues, the next day. Individual one-day workshops are also being offered to prepare schools, led by teacher and artist Christine Hall. Throughout the exhibition a welding booth is to be set up in the town hall Corn Exchange, where visitors will be able to select metals and brief a professional welder and sculptor to work to their instruction. Sir Anthony has made sculptures in silver and town jewellers WE Clark is providing silver for visitors to make miniature sculptures. The Corn Exchange will be used throughout the exhibition for workshops in clay, wood and drawing and will be available for individuals and groups.
